[Benchmark] Ever wonder how donors prefer to give and engage with their preferred nonprofit?

With responses from over 13,468 donors and 1,817 non-donors (volunteers etc), the 2020 Global Trends in Giving report provides a glimpse into what is happening around the world on how donors prefer to give.

There were some surprises and definitely, some highlights.

Sponsored by Funraise and produced by Nonprofit Tech for Good the Global Trends Giving Report is based on survey responses from donors in 133 countries. It highlights how donors are inspired to give and engage with their favourite causes. 

In US & Canada - 49% of donors thought regular email communication is most likely to inspire them to repeat donations and that 57% are enrolled in a recurring giving program with 94% of them giving monthly (up from 46% in 2018

In Australia and New Zealand, 64% of donors prefer to give online with a credit card - the highest in the world and up from 51% in 2018. In 2019, donors embraced Facebook Fundraising Fundraising Tools with a jump of 41%.

In Europe, 34% of donors thought that social media post inspired their donations with 44% of respondents giving via Facebook.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, it’s similar with 41% of donors suggesting that social media inspires them to give.

In Africa saw an increase in the use of credit and debit card donations - up from 25% to 30% and social media continues to inspire donations. 

In Asia, 49% of donors are involved in a recurring giving program with 81% of people who give monthly.
